Forestry Foundation, will present "The History of New
England's Forests." His program will discuss the evolution of
our forests beginning with the last ice age to the present day

| Linda Tate, President, NH Antique
Dealers Association, will bring in some special things from
her own collection, talk about what makes them special, and
what constitutes special items from the 18th and early 19th
centuries. She encourages participants to bring in an item of
interest from that period to be evaluated and discussed.

| Charley Strickland and Tracy Messer will present "The
Marlow-Stoddard-Washington Fire." The program will be about this
fire, which took place April 28-30 1941 and was the largest
uncontrolled forest fire in the State. The fire burned camps on
Ashuelot and Highland Lakes in Washington.

| Kenneth Gloss, Proprietor of the Brattle Book Shop in
Boston (one of America's best- known antiquarian book shops)
will discuss "Treasures in Your Attic: Old and Rare Books."
His lecture will begin with a general discussion about old and
rare books. This will be followed by a question and answer
session. During the final portion of the program, he will
appraise some of the books that you bring.

Aug. 14
| Sandra LeBeau, PhD, University of Pittsburg, will
discuss "The Mills of Manchester, NH and Manchester, England."
The program compares industrialization and the lives of
workers in northwest England with those in New Hampshire. This
discussion will shed light on the era of industrialization in
New Hampshire and compare the forms that industrialization
took in the two countries.

| Sarah S. Smith, Associate Professor, UNH, will present
"They Sawed Up A Storm". This program is a slide presentation
about a group of women, during the hurricane of 1938 and the
determination of the people of New England.

| Sidewalk Café, Wool Arts Tour, Mirage Alpaca Farm

Oct. 9
| Allen Koop Ph. D. University of Pennsylvania will
discuss "Camp Stark; New Hampshire's WWII German Prisoner of
War Camp." The program will be about the 300 WWII German POW's
held at Camp Stark in NH's North Country. It will relate the
history of the camp, which tells us much about our state's and
country's war experience.
